Eyes provide vision and are one of the most delicate sense organs. Eyes get strained due to various reasons. It is important to relax eye muscles and relieve strain. There are simple techniques for eye care.
Maintain safe distance from computer screen, adjust its brightness and take a break from your computer screen after every half an hour to ease the strain on eyes. Rub your palms against each other for about 10 seconds and then place your palms on eyes with your eyes closed, and breathe in and out gently, to relax eye muscles. Ashtanga hridaya, an Ayurvedic text, mentions that foot massage is efficient in relieving eyes strain. Apply oil on head and sole of foot, and gently massage it, before going to bed. This gives strength to eyes.

Soaking cotton swabs in rose water or cold milk and placing them on eyes for 10 minutes also helps to cool tired eyes. Know your headache :

The human body provides clues when something goes wrong in it. Headache is one such warning sign by the body. Let's understand headache as a clue to set things right in the body.

Headache is a symptom that involves pain in the head that can arise from many disorders. In Ayurveda, headache can be caused due to sensitive nervous system or improper digestion. Stress - both physical and mental - affects the nervous system causing headache. How is headache related to digestion? As referred in one of our earlier articles, 'ama' are the toxins formed due to improper digestion. These toxins can cause headache.

One way of handling headache is by alleviating the pain. This can bring temporary relief only. Alternatively, understanding the root cause and treating it is more efficient. Boiling crushed fresh ginger in water, filtering and drinking the warm liquid helps in reducing headache. Simple stretching neck exercises and massage help in relieving stress. Taking short breaks instead of working long hours continuously, proper eating and sleeping habits reduce the frequency of headaches.
